Uniform Scrubs: How Should My Scrubs Fit?

By Nancy Corrales

Uniform scrubs say a lot about you at first glance, it is very important to come across neat and professional. This means, head to toe must be presentable. Hair needs to be pulled back and away from your face, invest in hair products that will help you achieve a clean style. Scrubs come in a variation of sizes, so be sure to choose the right fit for your body.

Comfort & Quality

Scrubs are meant to be comfortable, fit can sometimes be questionable. Women in particular, may have a precise preference in looking more stylish. However, more stylish doesn’t have to compromise the fit of the overall uniform. Select a bottom with an elastic waistband and drawstring to keep your pants in place when bending down. Another issue with scrub pants is, lighter colors and thin materials. Discounted brands will often make poorly made product.

Polished Look

It is extremely unprofessional to have your intimates show through any uniform, especially in a hospital setting. Another similar issue, is exposing too much up top. If wearing a V-Neck scrub, make sure it is a standard tasteful design and not a trendy style from a discounted brand, which may be too revealing. Color matching sounds easy enough, but if you are purchasing tops and bottoms from different companies, the same colors may not match exactly. Make sure to purchase sets from the same company, to avoid a mismatched uniform. Instead, mix and match with a pattern top and colored pants since the hue will be more forgiving in a pattern.

Wearing a uniform scrub to work should be simple and easy, be selective with the company you choose when purchasing your scrubs. Go for good quality and not a discount for your uniform. It will save you time and money, but most importantly you will look your very best on the job!
